Ivanovo regional museum
The museum stores more than 24.000 pieces of art and thus is one of the largest in Russia. The history of its creation dates back to the end of the 19th century. The museum's display consists of many well-selected collections (of different countries and peoples) starting from the Ancient world to modern art.

The museum's collection is based on half a million textiles. Collecting started at the end of the 19th century. Museum's display shows the development of the textile industry in Ivanovo region since the earliest times to the present day. The most interesting and important are textile samples, of which the oldest were made in Ancient Egypt in the 5th century A.D., while the youngest were woven by the skillful Ivanovo weavers the year the museum opened.

The Tsvetaievs’ family museum
The museum is 3 km away from Ivanovo. There is the Tsvetaievs family house kept intact in the village of Novo-Talitsy. In this house from the mid-19th century lived several generations of the family of I.V. Tsvetaiev – a Russian scientist, doctor of Roman literature, founder of the Museum of Fine art in Moscow, and Marina Tsvetaieva – a Russian poetess.

Vvedenye-Dounilovo>
Dounilovo is an old, large commercial and industrial village that stood on the crossroads of two ancient roads. The richness of the village of old is underlined by a number of temple complexes intact to this day.

The village panorama is embellished with 15 temples and bell towers. The Sviato-Uspenskiy Convent is situated here. Also here, on the bank of River Molohta, lies the village of Vvedenye with its Nikolo-Shartomskiy Monastery, which was first mentioned in records in 1425. Since its first days, Nikolo-Shartomskiy Monastery was in favour with Moscow’s princes for the monks' services to the Motherland.

Plios
A little town on the right bank of the Volga is famous for its buildings wonderful blending with the surrounding nature, clear air and calming silence.

The only memorial museum of I.I. Levitan in Russia is in Plios. In the museum apart from the works by Levitan himself, one can also find pictures by A.K. Savrasov, V.D. Polenov, A.S. Stepanov and S.D. Kouvshinnikova.

Also of interest is the Plios history museum, where one can learn about the old and Medieval history of the city. There is also an Arts and Crafts museum.

On this very embankment there is the only Russian landscape museum – a potential object of “envy” by Paris, Rome, Dresden, Prague and other museum capitals of the world.

Palekh
The world renowned Palekh miniatures – elegant caskets, snuff-boxes, brooches of papier-mache – are decorated with miniature paintings on a black lacquer background. Here in the State museum of Palekh art one can see an excellent collection of lacquer miniatures, exciting in their elegance and artistic perfection. Also of great interest are the memorial house museums of artists P.D. Korin, I.I. Golikov, N.V. Dadykin, N.I. Zinoviev.

Holoui
Holoui is also a large centre of lacquer miniatures. Its fate is similar to Palekh's. Here people also first painted icons and then passed to lacquer drawing on papier-mache. Working in a slightly different manner from Palekh artists, the masters of Holoui also achieved wonderful results and gained general respect. There are exhibits of the history of local crafts collected in the local museum.
